    We celebrate International Women's Day

Women’s leadership globally, in Doctors Without Borders, and in the contexts within which we work, is sometimes unrecognized. To mark International Women’s Day 2022, we are highlighting women working in and alongside Doctors Without Borders, and the individual strength and leadership they display as they contribute to high quality, patient-centred care in our projects. This webinar will involve speakers and other contributors from a cross section of society to talk about their personal journeys in overcoming adversity.

The event creates an avenue for participants to reflect on their experiences, to unlock their innate strengths and draw inspiration for the journey ahead.  Whether a student, manager, senior executive, or entrepreneur we have prepared a seat for you.

Dato’ Kathleen Chew Wai Lin, Group Legal Counsel, YTL Corporation Berhad

Dato’ Kathleen has been involved in providing education to children via various charitable foundations.

She has been involved in contributing towards improving education in the country. She believes that every child should have equitable access to good health and education.

Dato Kathleen is also the founder of Mangosteen, a company that produces natural based products. Mangosteen began with a mission to help address the sustainability of organisations that do important work around the region. 100% of profits from Mangosteen go to organisations that empower women and children in South East Asia. Mangosteen also began producing face masks, working with an organisation that trained refugee women to sew the products. They were able to provide livelihoods for these women during the pandemic through this initiative.

Datin Mina Cheah-Foong, Managing Director, InNature Berhad

Datin Mina Cheah-Foong, a formidable figure in the retail industry who is the Managing Director of The Body Shop franchise, is also a reputable advocate of a range of worthy causes, from environmental to humanitarian, as well as women’s rights.

Eliza Chang, Nurse, Doctors Without Borders Field Worker

Eliza's childhood dream was to be in the medical field, serving in humanitarian aid as seen on medical documentaries. She kept her dreams close to her and eventually became a nurse in 2012. After graduating from nursing in Malaysia, Eliza chose to work away from the comfort of her hometown. After reuniting with her long-lost twin sister, she moved to Singapore in 2014 to develop her nursing skills in the maternity sector.

Having served six years as a maternity nurse in private hospitals in both Malaysia and Singapore, Eliza embarked on a new adventure with Doctors Without Borders in 2019.

She is currently serving her fourth mission in Bangladesh as a Nursing Activity Manager, upholding the spirit to explore and discover. Eliza dedicates herself to providing help whenever possible, hoping to give above what was received and creating stories to share shortly.
